For more than 20 years I have wanted to become a Big Sister, but the timing was never right. This year, I decided the timing was right.
The difference is that in the last 20 years I have come to understand that the right time for the things your are passionate about is always right now. The exposure I have had to Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) by working with Neora as the Canadian Operations Manager has ignited my passion into action, and last September I submitted my application to our Vancouver BBBS organization.
I believe that being a Big will positively transform my life, and I hope that I can also have that positive influence on my Little. It has always been important for me to feel like I am giving back, but I am excited to be able to contribute undivided attention to one little girl. I hope this can enrich both of our lives with a meaningful, enduring friendship. I now patiently and passionately wait for my Little match.
Sheila Randall, MBA, is the operations manager for Neora International in Canada.
I’m going to follow your lead Sheila! xoxo
Congratulations for following your passion! Can’t wait to hear more about your little one.
Being a big sister to a youth who may have come from a place less fortunate than you is not always all sunshine and light. These kids have had people pick them up and let them down so be prepared for the worst but hope for the best. I wish you and your match all the best. Your a great inspiration Sheila Randall.
You will receive so much more out of helping your Little than you can imagine. There is no sense of accomplishment quite like that you will get when your Little lets you now that you were the key to them becoming what they wanted to be. BBBS are a fantastic place to help children grow into future heros. ou will get more inner satisfaction then anything else you may ever do.
