BBBS Night at Pizza Ranch

Serving Up Pizza for Big Brothers Big Sisters

By | Ripple Stories | No Comments

In February, my Neora Team and I partnered with a local restaurant, Pizza Ranch, to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS). They have a Community Outreach program for nonprofit organizations, so we organized a night for BBBS. Twenty percent of the total food tab of patrons who come to eat and support the nonprofit – as well as all tips – are donated. On these nights there is only kitchen and cashier staff there. The nonprofit is responsible for bringing a group of people whose role is to bus tables, greet the customers, and promote the organization. We had a blast doing this, and raised $360 for BBBS with more to come! It so much fun! We scheduled another one in March as well as our bowling event in April. We love being part of this movement to Make People Better! Phyllis Anderson Lincoln, Nebraska

Supporting a Little Sister’s Dream

Neora Brand Partner Rebecca Massee was matched with 13-year-old Jazlyn in April 2014. Rebecca said she had been considering becoming a Big Sister and was convinced after a Big Brothers Big Sisters representative spoke at a conference the year before.  Jazlyn and Rebecca like to eat out, walk dogs, hike, and swim. Rebecca said that Jazlyn is very athletic. “We have a lot of fun being outside and being active together and we both love to eat out! But mostly it’s nice to visit together and just talk about everyday things,” she said.  Rebecca has high hopes for Jazlyn’s future. “She’s a natural at technology and hopes to be a veterinarian.” Rebecca helps support Jazlyn’s dream of becoming a veterinarian by encouraging her to perform well in school and helping her improve communication and social skills.  Rebecca also supports BBBS by having donations withdrawn from commission checks. Helping a Little Get a Second Chance

I joined Big Brothers Big Sisters in 2014 and met my Little Brother, Seth, in January 2015. This experience has brought me so much joy and it is very rewarding to see Seth begin to turn around since losing both parents a couple years ago. He is a smart boy and he is working so hard and making such progress. Seth and his three siblings have been kept together and were adopted by a very sweet lady named Susan. Seth and I have been meeting every other week ever since. We go to sporting events in Detroit to see the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons. He is a big fan. We also work on Cub Scout and school projects together. I gave him a copy of the Success for Teens book for his birthday and he has started to read it. I have made it one of my primary missions in life…

Waiting for a Match in Canada

By | Ripple Stories | 4 Comments

For more than 20 years I have wanted to become a Big Sister, but the timing was never right. This year, I decided the timing was right. The difference is that in the last 20 years I have come to understand that the right time for the things your are passionate about is always right now. The exposure I have had to Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) by working with Neora as the Canadian Operations Manager has ignited my passion into action, and last September I submitted my application to our Vancouver BBBS organization. I believe that being a Big will positively transform my life, and I hope that I can also have that positive influence on my Little. It has always been important for me to feel like I am giving back, but I am excited to be able to contribute undivided attention to one little girl. I hope this…

Neora Core Values in Action – Attracting People with Heart

By | Ripple Stories | No Comments

Morgan Ott has always had a heart for servant leadership and volunteered annually as a team captain on her advertising agency’s bowling team during the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser. Later, as she was staying at home to raise her young children, her local BBBS chapter recruited her to work part-time as their Community Engagement Manager. That’s when she found out about Neora. “A great friend of mine sells Neora and after months of stalking her Facebook page, I knew I wanted the amazing product,” Morgan said. “When I heard about the company, their mission and their HUGE support of Big Brothers Big Sisters, I was completely sold.” She became a Brand Partner in December 2014 because she believed in the product, and because she had seen first-hand the loving, caring and sharing spirit of the company. As of March 2015, Morgan is a Senior Director…

Canadian Brand Partner Jessica has a BIG time with Ellie

My “Little Sister” in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program is Ellie and she happens to be an AMAZING girl. She is 12 years old and has been battling a brain tumor since she was born. They cannot operate on the tumor but this does not slow her down whatsoever. She really has changed my perspective on life. We do arts and crafts, see movies, sing in the car, go skating and play board games or charades. We have been to Canada’s Wonderland Amusement Park, thanks to the BBBS agency providing tickets.I was fortunate enough to take Ellie to the hair salon for her first highlights. She wanted blue highlights, so we got them together! I suggest to anyone who’s contemplating becoming a BIG to do so. It is definitely worth it. Ellie has been truly inspirational in my life!
